Hello! This post is one that is very hard to do but is needed. Our 10 year old Lab and Boston Terrier mix is needing a home with older children and no small dogs. He is great with children don’t get me wrong we have 5 and he has grown with them over the years with all the stages of infancy to our oldest who is also 10. He has however become a little bit of a grumpy old man. He has had a couple alterations with our two dacschunds and one incident where he either bit or scratched our 5 year olds face. He has NEVER bit so I believe it to be a complete accident but a call for his need of space without irritation. We love our sweet boy so much. He loves kids and car rides. He loves a good pup cup and treats from the coffee stands and he loves playing with my parents dogs which are larger breeds. I believe with his age he is less tolerant to being around littles. We have a 14 month old and 3 year old still learning boundaries and I would never forgive myself if I didn’t remedy the environment for him and he bite one of the children or hurt one of the dacschunds. His fate shouldn’t be quarantines and euthanasia because he is asking for space. So this is what we will have to do. My oldest son said he must go to someone with older kids, he suggested a 5th grader like himself. He also says he needs a mom and dad that like to take him places and that he can sleep in their bed either the parents or the older kid. He does sleep with my 5 year old until the incident and now is just with our 10 year old. He doesn’t mind being in the kennel if we plan to be gone for a long time however he can be free roam of the home so long as trash bins are closed. He likes to find snacks! But in all honesty he has been the best dog to grow up with our children and it just sucks dogs age so much faster than us humans. We would have loved to have him until all of our kids are grown but that just won’t be the case. Please text me at 907 three four seven 6 seven one 2. And please no harsh responses.
