About the Role:
As an Adult Education Instructor, you’ll provide individualized and small-group instruction in:
-GED test preparation (math, science, social studies, language arts)
-English language learning
-Computer literacy and career readiness
-Study skills and test-taking strategies
You’ll support learners from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate paperwork, stay on track with appointments, remain motivated, and connect with other essential services.
Who You’ll Serve:
SERRC supports adult learners across Alaska, including:
-Juneau and Southeast Alaska
-Bristol Bay and the Aleutian-Pribilof Island Region
-Utqiaġvik and the North Slope
-Bethel and the Lower Kuskokwim
We’re looking for flexible instructors to help students around the state. Most instruction is virtual, but in-person teaching is provided whenever possible within a community.
What You’ll Do:
-Teach and support adult learners in person and online
-Create individualized study plans and track student progress
-Maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
-Collaborate with community partners and recruit volunteer tutors
-Help students access resources and overcome barriers to success
Who We’re Looking For:
-Teaching degree, BA in a related field, or equivalent experience (preferred but not required)
-Alaska Teaching Certificate (preferred but not required)
-Experience with adult learners or diverse populations
-Strong communication and organizational skills
-Ability to adapt lessons to student needs and integrate technology into instruction
-Background in case management, social services, or other supportive roles is welcome!
